I am much happier and content and have got a grip of my old self...

Roberta Hewitt

Socialist, activist and wife of John Hewitt

I am much happier and content and have got a grip of my old self. Again I am close to Johnny and realise just how good he is. I must ever remember his values are different – I suppose his are real and eternal, or more eternal. The only outside things that count with him are books and pictures.

Where we live – on rich or threadbare carpets or on old chairs, don’t mean a lot – he likes the house tidy, he likes the room freshly cleaned and polished – he will help to clean it – and that is all. My bad period is over at the moment and I must try to avoid the dark mood – we will have such a short time together it is awful of me to spoil a moment.
