I quite enjoy my stories on the wall in flat moving photographs...

Roberta Hewitt

Socialist, activist and wife of John Hewitt

We arrived in London about 12.30. […] We saw téle-kinema which brought shapes & men into the air in the middle of the cinema & we had to wear glasses. I don’t like communal glasses – I quite enjoy my stories on the wall in flat moving photographs, in control.

I did not like the wonderful roof on the Dome of Discovery. It covers too many heads and I don’t trust things too big and too high – I like to be within falling distance of the ground with a roof that maybe wouldn’t flatten me if it fell. I don’t much like large exhibitions. […] We went back to Piccadilly and Anne was very afraid with the escalators.
