I very nearly lost good hat...

Germans attacking our ships on Eng. Coast with aero-planes. 6th day of rain & beastly eastwind. It cleared more or less & I drove Mr W. to Bank, post, Electricity Office etc. In af’tn I drove up to hotel to see Mollie Barcroft & the Austrian refugee lady. Frightful gale there, I very nearly lost good hat. Didn’t go out again. Worked at Army socks. Went to Miss Hatchett on way back.
