A very mild moist day & much the same as all other Christmasses. It is wonderful how much this family has stuck together year after year; we all missed Emma very much & I was glad I was at home, though it was nice to think of all the little fir trees in the Market-Platz at Karlsruhe & the chokey smell of the burning lights that the old women sold in the streets.
