McElderry and I had joined up together in 1915 and now our demobilisation papers came through together. We bade farewell to our friends and our hospital life and proceeded to Boulogne and then to Folkestone where we were officially ‘demobbed’[…] then ‘Home’, to a completely different way of life.*
