Very bad taste for a picnic...

Ruth Duffin

Young poet documenting social life and travels

Yesterday Edmund & I went to Miss Askew’s picnic at Donard Lodge […] There were tables, T-shape, on the terrace […] & we sat down to a meal of 7 courses which lasted till a quarter to four very bad taste for a picnic, I think, especially as we had champagne, old port, liqueurs etc. After luncheon we rolled the children down the bank, which must have been bad for them after such a lunch, & then we all climbed up past the waterfall.
