Young girl documenting a family trip to Switzerland
[…] we were at the beginning of our ascent. At one place we came to a division of the valley, which branched out into two long narrow valleys with high mountains on each side of them and up one of these we went & after our journeys end we found ourselves at Termatt.
Last year when Papa went to Termatt there was no railway & people wanting to go there were obliged to walk a hot road in order to come to Termatt, so consequently none but good walkers could come to Termatt, – but of course mules could be had if wished -
This year in the summer, though, since the railway had been constructed all manner of people went to Termatt & the towns up the valley – so the consequence was that when we arrived at our destination we found it full of people & at the hotel the people were in numbers so we had our dinner the best we could.
