Counterpart with Artist Joe Caslin

Work with renowned artist Joe Caslin to create a new piece of public art in Belfast

Counterpart is an exclusive engagement programme with acclaimed artist Joe Caslin (https://joecaslin.com/) that will explore how street art documents societal conflicts, aspirations, empowerment and change.

Explore the history and evolution of street art and take a tour of Belfast's evolving scene before working with Joe Caslin to explore ideas that will inspire a major new outdoor, public piece of art in Belfast.

You will get the exclusive opportunity to work alongside Joe who is renowned for his beautifully rendered pencil drawings, which manifest as towering pieces of street art, in a unique workshop.


HOW WILL THE PROGRAMME WORK?

- Join us for a digital Lecture exploring the evolution of Street Art and its role in historical storytelling, hear from Professor Bill Rolston, Adam Turkington (founder of Hit the North Street Art Festival & Seedhead Arts) and artist Joe Caslin

- Go on a Street Art Tour of Belfast with Seedhead Arts

-Take part in an exclusive workshop with Visual Artist Joe Caslin at the Ulster Museum. Ideas from this workshop will contribute to a major new piece of public art that will go on public display in Belfast

- Sessions will be delivered via a mix of online and in real life engagement - all with the support of the Making the Future team and in line with COVID19 safety guidelines.


This programme is FREE and open to anyone from or based in Northern Ireland or border counties aged 16-25.


***Due to funding stipulations, this programme is only eligible for those who have not taken part in a previous Making the Future programme. Numbers are extremely limited to ensure COVID19 safety guidelines.***


The programme will take place on the following dates:

Tuesday 29th June, 7-8.30pm (Online)

Thursday 1st July, 6.30-8.30pm (Belfast City Centre)

Saturday 3rd July, 10-1pm (Ulster Museum)

Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in the installation of the art piece in August.

You must be able to take part in all of the above sessions.
