Women in the Archives Information Evening

Do you lead or are you involved in a local community group, society or club?

Would you like to engage your group with women’s history and help us bring forward female voices from the archives and inspire future generations?

Come along to PRONI on 17 January 7-8.30pm to find out more about Women in the Archives - an exciting new programme of exhibitions, events and workshops taking place across Northern Ireland in 2019-2020.

This event is aimed at individuals from a range of formal and informal settings including schools, youth, minority, history and community groups and those involved with community relations & wellbeing work.

The event will introduce you to Women in the Archives and the many different programmes we can offer, including but not limited to:

- Specially designed bus & walking tours to explore ordinary and extraordinary women’s lives.

- Exclusive guided tours and visits to cultural sites such as PRONI, Linen Hall Library, and Ulster Museum and Ulster Folk & Transport Museum.

- Skills development opportunities in historical and archival research, filmmaking, photography, creative writing, tour guiding, etc.

By the end of the programme, we hope to exhibit and archive material created by all groups to ensure that their stories are available and preserved for future generations.

Women in the Archives is part of the larger Making the Future project, which brings together leading cultural organisations –PRONI, The Linen Hall Library, National Museums Northern Ireland and the Nerve Centre. The programme brings participants together in cross-community engagement programmes across 9 interlinked strands, using the creative arts and digital technologies to fire the imagination and unlock the creativity of participants, whilst exploring contentious history and identity, and promoting reconciliation.
