CultureLab shortlisted for best uk exhibition award

Out playfully provocative CultureLab exhibition has been shortlisted for the Best UK exhibition at the 2021 Museums and Heritage Awards.

The CultureLab exhibition is the only project in Northern Ireland to have made the prestigious awards shortlist.

Opening at the Ulster Museum in February 2020, the exhibition was a hit with the public who enjoyed its approach to exploring stereotypes and issues of culture and identity in Northern Ireland.

With the tagline 'Don't Believe the Stereotype', the exhibition includes the famous 'Differences' blackboard from the hit TV series Derry Girls, on public display for the first time.

The blackboard sits alongside a new interactive installation, inspired by the iconic prop, that tests visitors' preconceptions and challenge traditional stereotypes.

Since it opened the exhibition has been visited by over 30,000 people while an online interactive version of the exhibition continues to showcase the innovative show across the world.

The winner will be announced at an online awards ceremony on July 1.
